Meeting Minutes – October 15, 2012

Stephanie Paul, Mid-East Area Agency on Aging
Mid-East Area Agency on Aging will be assisting Medicare Beneficiaries with Open Enrollment.  Open Enrollment begins October 15th and ends December 7th for changes to be effective January 1st.  Any Medicare Beneficiary using a Medicare Advantage plan or Medicare Drug Plan can meet with MEAAA for plan comparison and enrollment assistance.  Staff will be available to meet in person on the following dates/locations:

Every Wednesday, 10/24 to 12/5, from 9:00am to 12:00 noon
De Soto Senior Center – 13227 State Road E, 63020

Doug Over, Double Eagle Associates:
ABCs of Family Finance classes are continuing until December 5th.
As an AARP trained volunteer, Doug is available to provide the AARP Driver Safety class at community locations.  Veterans can complete the course in November for FREE.  Call Doug for more information at 636-296-0535.

Sandy Nappier, Jefferson College
#1:   MoHealthWINS CIS Computer Support Fast Track Program
Applications are being accepted for the January Free Tuition Computer Support program.  Applications may be obtained at Jefferson College and/or Missouri Career Center in Arnold.
Classes will meet at Jefferson College ARNOLD.

Applications are also being accepted for the Radiologic Technology AAS Program.  Applicants must download the full application packet at: http://www.jeffco.edu/jeffco/content/view/843/116/ and follow all directions.   Applicants must complete the separate Eligibility Review Form. Tuition for this program will be free for eligible candidates as part of the MoHealthWINS initiative.

#2:  Applications for the Workforce Investment Act (WIA) Youth Program are being accepted for summer employment and other youth program services.  To apply, must be between the ages of 16-21.  Call 636.287.8909, ext. 262 to request application.

A variety of cultural and art events are scheduled throughout the year.  Some events are FREE!  All are open to the community.  Season tickets are $25.00 General Admission and $15.00 students/senior citizens.  Individual events are $5.00 General Admission and $2.00 students/senior citizens.

The United Way is seeking updates and additions for organizations providing Holiday/Christmas programming for families.  If your organization is providing a holiday program this year, please contact Deidra to be included in the 211 database of resources.
