May 20, 2013

Molly Pfeiffer:
  • Next month’s meeting will be at MEAAA in House Springs. 
  • Directions (from Stephanie Paul): From Hwy 21/Hwy 55, exit Hwy MM towards House Springs.  NW Early Childhood and Senior Resource Center is on left, 3 mi. from Hwy 21.  From Hwy 30, turn on Hwy MM and House Springs.  Center is on right, 2.5 mi. from Hwy 30.  Park in gravel lot and enter side door.
  • There will be no forum meeting in July


  • Planning for College. 5/29, 6-7:30pm.  Jefferson College admissions staff will answer general questions about preparing for college, and specific questions about Jefferson College.  Sign-up required
  • Free Computer Classes. Various dates and times in June.  Sign up by calling 636-677-8186
  • Free Cholesterol and Glucose Testing.  6/12, 8:30am-11am.  Free tests, no strings attached.  Call 1-888-457-5203 to make an appointment and for more information
  • Healthy Eating on a Budget. 6/24, 6-7pm.  Jefferson County Health Department will talk about how families can eat healthily while sticking to a budget.  Sign-up in advance


Josh Henry:
  • Kids and Teens Summer Reading Programs.  June and July.  Sign up to participate by reading at least 5 books (kids) or 3 books (teens) to win a prize and be entered in prize drawings.  Various programs and events will be held during the summer, many of which require registrations.  Call 636-296-2204
  • Adult programs in June include ABCs of College Planning (6/3, 7pm) and AARP Driver’s Safety (6/17, 12:30-4:30pm).  Call 636-296-5171 to register.


Missy Waldman:

Stephanie Paul:

Mary Tinsley:
  • Constituent Service Days.  Dates in summer TBA.  Caseworker(s) will be available in counties during one week.  mary.tinsley@mail.house.gov


Erin Benz:
  • Hunger Task Force Fundraiser.  6/1, 7-10pm.  Immaculate Conception, Arnold.  $20.  Elvis, Patsy Cline, and Buddy Holly impersonators.  Concert benefits the Jefferson County Hunger Task Force. 
  • Youth Group Summer Day Camp.  7/22-26, 9am-12pm.  Join us for fun activities, games, field trips, and meeting new people!  Ages 14-20.  Nancy or Erin, 636-931-7696
  • A/C units for qualifying seniors 65 and over with a disability/illness in the home.  Jimmie Henson, 636-931-7696 x131


Doug Over:
  • ABCs of College Planning and AARP Driver Safety offered at all Jefferson County Library branches, various dates/times.
  • Junior Achievement financial planning classes.  If you have the need for financial classes, I can tailor them to the appropriate age group
  • Common Sense Companies.  Help for seniors and veterans with funeral expense trusts, insurance, elder care law.  VA pension help for medical expenses.  College solutions through Tuition Rewards. 
  • Jefferson County Military Family Support Network.  Help with home care for veterans and their families.  This organization has been very active this past month.  This Sunday will be serving dinner at Jefferson Barracks
