Jefferson County Library-Arnold, Meredith McCarthy distributed flyers regarding What’s happening at your library. What’s happening at your library?, flyer is events happening at the Arnold Branch. Calendar of events can be located at www.jeffersoncountylibrary.org. She distributed a flyer with the new demographic statistics for the 2010 census. She stated that there are Book Club Kits available; you can check out 8 books at a time for your personal book discussion, contact Myra Hill. MEAAA, Stephanie Paul distributed flyers for a Caregiver Retreat on April 29th from 10am-2:30pm at Jefferson Regional Medical Center. She distributed a flyer on Housing Foreclosure, Prevention Help and Resources. You can call Jefferson County Housing Task Force at 877-422-9043 to speak with a HUD certified housing counselor. Stephanie distributed a fly for a fundraiser event for Alzheimer’s Association. Striking out Alzheimer’s Event will be at Fandango’s Sports Bar& Grill on April 28th at 6pm. A $10 donation includes food. She stated that they are taking referrals for Rehab services for the Blind and for the Center for Hearing & Speech. Disability Resource Assoc., Erin Benz reported that DRA will be hosting a Trivia Night at Jefferson Regional Medical Center on May 14th. Contact Carolyn Hurt for more information at 636-931-7696.
JFCAC, Melissa Grimes stated that they have about 80 FSS participants and 5 home ownerships. She stated that the waiting list for housing and energy assistance has closed. Contact Melissa at 636-789-2686 x132 for more information.
National Chidren’s Study, Nikki Weinstein stated that the NCS will begin enrolling women who are pregnant or trying to become pregnant in Jefferson County in 2012. The pilot has started in St.Louis and has about 45 women enrolled. They are excited to take what they have learned in St. Louis to help Jefferson County study.
