Jefferson County Library-Arnold, Meredith McCarthy distributed flyers regarding What’s happening at your library.  What’s happening at your library?, flyer is events happening at the Arnold Branch.  Calendar of events can be located at www.jeffersoncountylibrary.org.  She reported that a workshop on Helping Veterans Re-entering the Workforce on May 5th at 1pm.  There will be Geocaching for Everyone on May 8th at 1pm.  It will use million dollar satellites to find Tupperware in the woods. United Way 2-1-1, Phyllis Hicks Call 314-242-1882.

Mid-East Area Agency on Aging, Stephanie Paul distributed hand outs. Volunteer Opportunities, volunteers are needed to deliver meals to home bound seniors as well as other activities at the senior centers.  Mileage is reimbursed for volunteers.  Living a Healthy Life with Chronic Conditions will be held at the Desoto Senior Center for 6 sessions from May 12 to June 16.  Program is intended to help educate person on how to manage chronic illnesses.  For more information contact Stephanie at 636-933-1347.

American Red Cross, Dale Chambers distributed hand outs on Babysitter Training.  The next training is March 13 and 15 from 8:30 to 3pm.  He reported that they can provide Disaster Preparedness classes as a free service.  Contact Dale at 636-464-9150 for more information.  For Blood Services contact 1-800-Give Life or Peggy Lake at 314-239-6173.

Byrnes Mill Medical Center, Patty Vanek distributed handouts on Byrnes Mill Medical Center.  It’s a rural health clinic accepting all Medicaid plans, most insurance and offering discounted rates for all approved applicants.  There are two locations: House Springs and Richwoods.  Call 636-677-9977 for more information.

Jefferson/Franklin Community Action, Melissa Grimes and Paulette Hensley, distributed handouts regarding Housing Choice Vouher Family Self-Sufficiency.  Contact Melissa at 636-789-2686 ex 132 for more information.  Family Health and Education Fair is looking for exhibitors for fair.  The fair is on August 6, 2010 at Hillsboro Elementary School.  They are still assisting with energy applications and weatherization applications along with Head Start and Early Head Start.  Contact Paulette at 636-789-2686 ex 119 for more information.

Alzheimer’s Association, Susie Davis distributed handouts.  There will be a Evaluating Your Memory Training on 4-24-10 at 8am at the First United Methodist Church in Festus.  A Telephone Conference is free of charge to family caregivers who would like to join a program by phone.  There will be a Caregiver Retreat on April 21, 2010.  Contact Katie Mclean at 314-801-0419 for more information.
