1. Help for Low Back Pain (ask for Myra Hill), 1/30/12, 6:30-8
            A doctor will explain low back pain and treatment options for free.

2. AARP Driver Safety course, 2/23/12, 1-5 pm
            $12 for AARP members, $14 for non-AARP; 4 hour refresher course to help seniors drive defensively

            Tax credit for seniors and disabled; AARP volunteers available to assist with simple tax returns and property tax credits

2. High Ridge Senior Center has a new location, Neil Bingaman, 677-4578
            The High Ridge Senior Center is now the Northwest Jefferson County Senior Resource Center, and new address is: 6180 Hwy MM, House Springs, MO  63051; phone number is 636-677-4578

3. Caregiver Support Group
            Open to any unpaid caregivers looking for resources/support.  Meets the 2nd Tuesday each month, from 2-3:30 pm.  Contact Stephanie with questions

4. Low Vision Resource Center
            Located at NW Jeffco Senior Resource Center (See #2); they have low vision equipment for loan to anyone 55 + who can benefit from reading aids; call Stephanie with questions.

5. Prime Connections newsletter
            Stephanie created a newsletter collating activities for seniors throughout Jefferson County; email spaul@mid-eastaaa.org to subscribe

General admission is $25 and includes 1 dinner buffet, 2 drink tickets, and entertainment from four local, metro-area comedians

A no-cost dental clinic for un-/under-insured children in Jefferson County. Services begin in April & May 2012.  Applications are currently accepted.

Any not-for profit agencies wishing to serve as a host worksite for youth and/or adults, are encouraged to complete Worksite Agreement and return to Arnold Career Center by February 3, 2012.  Agreements may be obtained by calling Sandy Nappier at 1.800.292.1314 or 314.808.6829.  Agencies who served as worksites in the past year will receive a new agreement in the mail.  Wages and worker’s compensation benefits are covered through the WIA programs.

Jefferson College has added Allied Health programs in Occupational Therapy Assistant and Respiratory Therapy.  Respiratory Therapy is currently taking applications for fall, 2012 start date.  An open house for RT will be held on 2/29/12 from 9 am to 11 am and 2 pm to 4 pm.  Interested students may call 636.481.3466 for additional information.
