Jefferson County Library-Arnold, Meredith McCarthy distributed flyers regarding What’s happening at your library. What’s happening at your library?, flyer is events happening at the Arnold Branch. Calendar of events can be located at www.jeffersoncountylibrary.org. Resume Help on July 4th, bring your current resume or info needed to create one, you can connect to live one-on-one online tutor. Northwest Library, Molly Pfeiffer- AARP Driver’s Safety Training Course on 7-8-10 9am-1p, members $12 and nonmembers $14. Advance Directives and End of Life Care class to help you find out how to write an advance directive to get guided through the process by Chaplain John Wilson of Hope Hospice. A Native Plant Gardening class, the MO Dept. of Conservation will talk about ecological advantages of convenience of gardening with native plants. Children’s Division, Samantha Richards reported that Meth Action Coalition is putting together a Meth Action Day Conference on October 15th. Save the Date!

Legal Services, Missy Waldman reported that they are taking referrals; call 800-444-0514 ext 1251.

American Red Cross, Dale Chambers reported a Disaster Education class which is a Emergency Preparedness Education for all age groups variety of presentations for 30 min to an hour.
Disability Resource Ass., Erin Benz reported that they have AC window units available as of July 1st, first come first serve. Contact James Henson at 636-931-7696 for more information.

Jefferson County Community Partnership, Jessica Rhodes brought handouts for Children’s Trust Fund License Plate Program to share with everyone. Jessica reported that Give Kids a Smile went well about 67 children were seen. Jessica reported that the Dental Coalition will be meeting on July 13th at 1pm at JCCP. Center for Hearing and Speech, Ann Munier reported that NFP supported by Unity Way and private donations, provide audiology and speech services for all ages with financial assistance if the patient qualifies. Contact Ann for more information at 314-968-4710.
Alzheimer’s Assoc., Susie Davis reported a Know the 10 Signs class to discuss the 10 warning signs of dementia and Alzheimer’s on July 8th. Contact Tammy Moran at 636-464-1013 x226. Also there will be a Memory Walk at several locations contact 800-272-3900 for locations.

United Way 2-1-1, Phyllis Hicks reported that from May 2009 thru May 2010 there have been over 119,000 calls. Call 314-242-1882.



Mid-East Area Agency on Aging, Stephanie Paul distributed hand outs. She reported that she has started Senior Connect. Senior Connect is a new volunteer based phone reassurance program for homebound seniors I Jefferson County. Seniors willing to volunteer to make or receive calls can call Stephanie to sign up. Byrnes Mill Medical Center, Patty Vanek reported that speakers, Amanda Cobb FNP, BN and Renee’ Willer FNP, BN, will be at High Ridge Library on 6-11-10 at 2pm to discuss ‘Roles of the Nurse Practitioner’. Call 636-677-9977 for more information.
