April 15, 2013

Molly Pfeiffer:
  • Women’s Autoimmune Support Group.  5/4, 2pm.  A monthly, informal group that shares their work with each other and offers feedback.  No signup required.
  • Build Your Own Family Tree.  5/6, 6:30pm.  5/8, 1pm.  Create a free, web-based family tree with the help of familysearch.org.  Signup is required.
  • Food for Fines.  5/31.  Last Friday of every month.  The library will forgive up to $1 in overdue fines for each can of food donated.  All collected food is donated to local food pantries. 


Doug Over:
  • Common Sense Companies.  Help for seniors and veterans with funeral expense trusts, insurance, elder care law.  VA pension help for medical expenses.  College solutions through Tuition Rewards.  636-323-4919, 314-303-1291, doug.over@att.net


Mary Tinsley:

Erin Benz:
  • Support group for ages 18 and over meets once per month.  Contact Nancy Pope, 636-931-7696 x113
  • Back to School Fair.  8/1.  At Jefferson College.  Looking for volunteers, donations, and additional committee members.  Contact Nancy Pope.


Charline Linhorst:
  • Youth WIA Program.  Assists ages 16-21 with employment activities and occupational skills training.  Tuition assistance and workshops for interviewing and preparing resumes.  Career Ready 101 tool used to enhance basic skills levels.  Always taking applications. 636-287-8909 x262, clinhor2@jeffco.edu


Debby Campbell:
  • DeSoto Farmer’s Market opens with plant sales.  4/20 and 4/27, 11:30am-2pm.  1004 Rock Rd.  Dog/cat vaccination clinic on 4/20, 12:30-1pm.  Tractor parade 4/27, 10am.

Missy Waldman:

Josh Henry:
  • Bloomin’ Bookworms Adult Reading Program.  Through 4/27.  Read 4 books, receive a mug and be entered for prize drawings.  Read 3 more books for additional chances to win.
  • Navigating the Online World Computer Classes.  5/2, 5/9, and 5/16, 9:30-11:30am.  Class 1 teaches basic mouse and keyboard skills.  Class 2 covers basic internet searching.  Class 3 shows how to use library catalog and website.  Free, registration required.  636-296-5171.


Wendy Thomas (via online):
  • Hillsboro Chamber of Commerce is planning the Annual Hillsboro Homecoming and Festival, Saturday May 18.  The Parade and events get bigger and better each year. We will once again be combining our annual Jefferson County Armed Forces Ceremony with our Festival.  Make your plans now and start thinking of ideas on how you can make your parade entry special.
