Jefferson County Library-Arnold, Meredith McCarthy distributed flyers regarding What’s happening at your library.  What’s happening at your library?, flyer is events happening at the Arnold Branch.  Calendar of events can be located at www.jeffersoncountylibrary.org.  She distributed cards regarding a Info quest Text Reference.  Text a question along with JCL to 66746 to get an answer within minutes.  Contact Meredith McCarthy at 636-296-5171 for more information.

Jefferson County Library-High Ridge Molly Pfeiffer distributed flyers about Basic Computer classes on 2-16,17,23, & 24th at 2pm, registration required.  There will be a driver safety class on 2-5-11 from 9-1pm.  The class cost $12 for AARP members and $14 for non-members.  She reported that there is a craft club every Tuesday at 1p, a card club every Monday at 10am and an exercise class every Monday and Wednesday at 9am. Get Healthy Desoto, Debby Campbell reported there is a Healthy Lunch and Learn regarding Identity Theft on 2-9-11 at noon at St. Andrews UMC cost is $7.00.  She reported that the Desoto Farmers Market will be open for a Bedding Plant Sale on April 23 and 30th at 8am-12 and the grand opening is May 7th! Disability Resource Assoc., Erin Benz reported that DRA will be attending the 10th annual Disability Rights Legislative Day in Jefferson City at the state capital.  DRA will be providing transportation for those interested.  Contact Erin for more information at 636-931-7696.

WIA Youth Program, Char Johnston reported on a Certified Nurse Assistant (CAN) classes call 636-797-300 ex 461 for more information. Jefferson County Library-High Ridge Molly Pfeiffer distributed flyers about Computer classes for MS Publisher, intro to Craigslist. She reported that they are currently looking for volunteers at the Library! She reported that the Northwest branch is now a passport agency. Contact Molly at 636-677-8186 for more information.

American Red Cross, Dale Chambers stated that if you need Emergency Preparedness information go to www.redcrossstl.org. There will be a Community Hero CPR Training on November 13th at Jefferson Regional Medical Center. The cost is $10.00 (normally $47) go to www.redcross.org to register.
WIA Youth, Sandy Nappier WIA Youth is accepting applications to help with career/college planning ages 16-21. Contact Sandy Nappier for more information at 636-287-8909.

Get Healthy Desoto, Debby Campbell reported there will be a Christmas Home Tour Fundraiser on November 27th from 9:30 – 3:00pm. Tickets are $15.00 in advanced or $17.00 at the door. Debby reported that the Better Body Challenge starts on January 20th at 5:00om. There is a Healthy Lunch and Learn regarding Identity Theft on 12-8-10 at noon at St. Andrews UMC cost is $7.00. Equal Housing Opportunity Council, Mira Tanna distributed a survey regarding equal housing in Jefferson County. She distributed flyers regarding Fair Housing for Everyone. If you need additional information contact Mira at 314-534-5800 x7016.

MEAAA, Stephanie Paul distributed flyers regarding Medicare Plan finders; it helps seniors compare Medicare drug plans to ensure they are in the most affordable plan. She distributed flyers on Prescription Cost Help; help screen and assist with applications for MORx and LIS both prescription assistance programs for Medicare Part D low income beneficiaries. She also distributed handouts on Jeffco Empowerment on Google groups; professionals in Jefferson County can share resources, services and events with others. United Way 211, Phyllis Hicks distributed hand out on the quarterly report. She reported that the top 3 needed request that came to 211 from Jefferson County in October was: 1. Electricity Service Payment (123 calls), 2. Rent payment (20 calls), 3. Gas service payment (16 calls).

Jefferson County Health Department, Chrissy Oberle reported that there is a Freedom From Smoking Class to help tobacco users kick the habit. The class is offered to Jefferson County residents or any business in Jefferson County for their workers!!! Contact Chrissy at 636-797-3737 for more information.

WIA Youth, Sandy Nappier distributed brochures on Mo Career Center programs. WIA Youth is accepting applications to help with career/college planning ages 16-21. Contact Sandy Nappier for more information at 636-287-8909. She distributed flyers for On The Job Training. Employers may be reimbursed up to 50% for training cost for qualified new hires. There will be a pumpkin decorating contest and a apple pie contest on October 23^rd at the Farmer’s Market. There will be a Christmas Home Tour Fundraiser on November 27^th from 9:30 – 3:00pm. Jefferson-Franklin Community Action Corp., Paulette Hensley reported that they are taking applications for head start, early head start, and weatherization. Energy applications for elderly/disabled are being accepted in October, everyone else’s applications will be accepted in November. Contact a Intake worker at 636-789-2686. Liberty House, Nancy Anderson reported that the Liberty House will be closing on November 1^st due to funding. She reported that she would like to continue to have Liberty House open. If you would like to help fund the Liberty House or have questions contact Nancy at 573-547-2003
