MEAAA, Stephanie Paul distributed flyers regarding Jeffco Empowerment Email Group, to help community professional share resources and updates by email. The Health Fair at High Ridge Senior Center is on September 29 from 10am-11:30am. There will be free screenings for bone density, blood sugar and blood pressure. Get Healthy Desoto, Debbie Campbell reported that the Desoto Farmer’s Market is every Saturday morning form 8-12 through October 23rd. There will be a Christmas Home Tour Fundraiser on November 27th from 9:30 – 3:00pm. Tickets are $15.00 in advanced or $17.00 at the door. Debbie reported that there will be a 5K Run/Walk fundraiser on October 30th. Meet at Spross Park at 7am for registration, walk begins at 8pm. Cost is $20.00. Sign up ahead of time for a shirt. Healthy Lunch and Learn is on October 13th at Noon. Cost is $7.00. Speaker will be Sandra Martin regarding Finding your Motivation through Emotional Fitness. Advance Directives and End of Life Care class to help you find out how to write an advance directive to get guided through the process by Chaplain John Wilson of Hope Hospice. A Native Plant Gardening class, the MO Dept. of Conservation will talk about ecological advantages of convenience of gardening with native plants. American Red Cross, Dale Chambers reported a Disaster Education class which is a Emergency Preparedness Education for all age groups variety of presentations for 30 min to an hour.
Disability Resource Ass., Erin Benz reported that they have AC window units available as of July 1st, first come first serve. Contact James Henson at 636-931-7696 for more information.
Jefferson County Community Partnership, Jessica Rhodes brought handouts for Children’s Trust Fund License Plate Program to share with everyone. Jessica reported that Give Kids a Smile went well about 67 children were seen. Jessica reported that the Dental Coalition will be meeting on July 13th at 1pm at JCCP. Senior Connect is a new volunteer based phone reassurance program for homebound seniors I Jefferson County. Seniors willing to volunteer to make or receive calls can call Stephanie to sign up.
