Jefferson County Library-Arnold, Meredith McCarthy distributed flyers regarding What’s happening at your library. What’s happening at your library?, flyer is events happening at the Arnold Branch. Calendar of events can be located at www.jeffersoncountylibrary.org. On October 27th at 2pm there will be a Write a Resume that Gets the Job Webinar to learn how to write a great resume, which is free. On November 12th at 10am there will be a AAPR Drivers Safety Class. A free Interview Tips Webinar will be on December 1st at 2pm to help you ace a job interview. American Red Cross, Dale Chambers stated that if you need Emergency Preparedness information go to www.redcrossstl.org. There will be a Community Hero CPR Training on November 13th at Jefferson Regional Medical Center. The cost is $10.00 (normally $47) go to www.redcross.org to register.
Memory Care Home Solutions, Steve Miskovic reported on Memory Care Home Solution’s annual event. Memories and Melodies is 11-11-10 at the Chase. They have tickets and sponsorship packages available. Contact Steve at 314-645-6247 for more information.
Jefferson County Health Department, Chrissy Oberle reported that there is a Freedom From Smoking Class to help tobacco users kick the habit. The class is offered to Jefferson County residents or any business in Jefferson County for their workers!!! Contact Chrissy at 636-797-3737 for more information.
WIA Youth, Sandy Nappier distributed brochures on Mo Career Center programs. WIA Youth is accepting applications to help with career/college planning ages 16-21. Contact Sandy Nappier for more information at 636-287-8909. She distributed flyers for On The Job Training. Employers may be reimbursed up to 50% for training cost for qualified new hires. She distributed flyers for Work Ready. Employment programs for unemployed individuals. MO Career Center contact information is 636-287-8909 or 800-292-1314.
Get Healthy Desoto, Debby Campbell reported that the Desoto Farmer’s Market is every Saturday morning form 8-12 through October 23rd. There will be a pumpkin decorating contest and a apple pie contest on October 23rd at the Farmer’s Market. There will be a Christmas Home Tour Fundraiser on November 27th from 9:30 – 3:00pm. Tickets are $15.00 in advanced or $17.00 at the door. Debby reported that the Better Body Challenge starts on January 20th at 5:00om. Contact Debby for more information at 636-586-4570.
Jefferson-Franklin Community Action Corp., Paulette Hensley reported that they are taking applications for head start, early head start, and weatherization. Energy applications for elderly/disabled are being accepted in October, everyone else’s applications will be accepted in November. Contact a Intake worker at 636-789-2686. Liberty House, Nancy Anderson reported that the Liberty House will be closing on November 1st due to funding. She reported that she would like to continue to have Liberty House open. If you would like to help fund the Liberty House or have questions contact Nancy at 573-547-2003
Alzheimer’s Association, Susie Davis distributed brochures regarding the mission and vision. The 24/7 helpline is 800-272-3900.
