• Ellen Coyle announced First Touch is a new faith based organization providing assistance to Jefferson County residents.  She is looking for resources and information about the greatest needs of residents so that First Touch can redefine their service populations and goals.  Anyone with questions or information for Ellen call her at 636-467-5770 or email at eecjpc2000@yahoo.com

Jefferson County Community Partnership – Jessica Rhodes and Cristina Kruetz

·        “Give Kids a Smile”  provides free dental care.  Jefferson Co. children between ages 5-18 with no dental insurance are eligible.  Application packets are due ASAP.  Call Jessica Rhodes at -636-464-5144 x 20 or email coordinator@jccp.org

·        The Jefferson County Early Childhood Comprehensive System is collecting clean containers, 6 inches or bigger for container garden demos for children and families.  Call Jessica for more info.

·        “A Night of Comedy” fundraiser will be held Friday March 23 at The Pastime Club 5557 US Hwy 61/67, Imperial, MO 63052.  Dinner at 6pm, show begins at 7pm.  $25 general admission for one includes two entrée buffet and two drink tickets.  Contact Sophie Emery for more information – 636-464-5144 x 13 or development@jccp.org

·        The Parenting Network, a program for first time stay at home parents with children under 3 yrs who are WIC eligible.  The program provides home visits and support to improve parenting skills and prepare children for entering school. Call Cristina for more info 636-464-5144 x 14.

·        Building Strong Families Parenting Classes.  Classes start March 20^th – May 8^th - Tuesday evenings 6:30-8:30.  Christ’s Church, 304B Locust St, Hillsboro. $5 per class per person, or $65 per person for all 8 classes or $95 per couple for all 8 classes. Registration and payment due by March 16^th. Meets requirements for court mandated parenting classes. For more info call Lynn Main at 636-464-5144 x 12.

Jefferson County Library, Northwest Branch – Molly Pfeiffer

• March adult program calendar distributed.
• AARP Driver’s Safety Course – April 5^th 10am-2pm, $12 members, $14 nonmembers. Sign up required. All driving ages welcome.
• PACE Arthritis Foundation Exercise Program - Mondays and Wednesday 9am-10am. You don’t have to have arthritis to participate.  Designed for adults with limited mobility – most exercises can be done from chair.  No sign up required, free classes.
• Genealogy Databases Class – March 7^th 2:30pm and March 8^th 6:30pm – learn more about library’s databases including Ancestry & HeritageQuest. Free for card holders, sign up required.

• Alzheimer’s Association Walk to End Alzheimer’s.  Recruiting teams and corporate sponsors for the First Jefferson County Walk.  No minimum team size or donation required. Free registration. Fox School District – Gayle Beck, school social worker announced two groups she is involved in that meet regularly.  Anyone interested can attend meetings.

• CRT (Community Response Team) meets monthly during the school year (August to May). Group consists of any agency in Jefferson County who is interested in attending. We have a speaker each month talk about their agency and the service they provide. Next meeting is March 23^rd at Comtrea in Arnold.

• EJC Homeless Youth Collaboration – This group is a part of Experience Jefferson County (EJC). Meets monthly in effort to help the Homeless Youth of Jefferson County who are still attending school. Next meeting is Wednesday March 7^th at 11:00 at the Jefferson County Library, Windsor Branch.

·        “Fight for Your Life” Cancer Weekend March 30-April 1.  Weekend Camp will help newly diagnosed cancer patients manage their disease, prevent or treat side effects.  The weekend will include nutritional guidance, strength training, aerobics exercise, stress management, energy management, awareness of community resources, legal guidance, tips to manage the process successfully and support. • Jefferson County Education Committee is looking for donations and volunteers for the annual back to school fair in August.  Anyone interested can call Nancy Pope at 636-931-7696.

            Located at NW Jeffco Senior Resource Center (See #2); they have low vision equipment for loan to anyone 55 + who can benefit from reading aids; call Stephanie with questions.

1. Any not-for profit agencies wishing to serve as a host worksite for youth and/or adults, are encouraged to complete Worksite Agreement and return to Arnold Career Center by February 3, 2012.  Agreements may be obtained by calling Sandy Nappier at 1.800.292.1314 or 314.808.6829.  Agencies who served as worksites in the past year will receive a new agreement in the mail.  Wages and worker’s compensation benefits are covered through the WIA programs.

2. Jefferson College has added Allied Health programs in Occupational Therapy Assistant and Respiratory Therapy.  Respiratory Therapy is currently taking applications for fall, 2012 start date.  An open house for RT will be held on 2/29/12 from 9 am to 11 am and 2 pm to 4 pm.  Interested students may call 636.481.3466 for additional information.

3. The Spring catalog for continuing education is available.  There are many free basic computer classes available, in addition to other workforce and leisure classes.  For more information on classes, contact 636.797.3000, ext 3144

• Serves as Ombudsman for MoHealthNet issues / Advocates for Family Health
• Discussed changes in access to incontinence supplies, treatment and diapers.
• State lost in court.  There is a permanent ruling that adults have access to incontinent supplies through MoHealthNet even if not in nursing homes. 
• People should call the hotline 314-534-1263 or 1-800-444-0514 x1251 if they need help with health services with MoHealthNet.

• The Better Body Challenge kicks off 01.26 from 5pm to 7:30pm at Vineland Elementary.  It is a 12 week program and costs $25 to participate.

            PROGRAM COORDINATING COMMITTEE   AGREEMENT
 A requirement of the Jefferson Franklin Community Action's Family Self-Sufficiency Program (FSS), is to form a Program Coordinating Committee.
The purpose of the committee is to assist the Family Self-Sufficiency Coordinator in identifying resources for our families and to provide advice the coordinator can use in developing action plans for each participant. We have the choice of forming a committee ourselves or simply partnering with an existing group of service providers in our area. The later is what we have chosen to do. In addition to forming a Program Coordinating Committee, we are required to obtain commitments from members of the group confirming that their agency/organization will provide their services to our FSS families. If you are willing to partner with us in this endeavor, please complete the following:

Medicare Open Enrollment Dates have changed to October 15-December 7^th for 2012 coverage.  MEAAA is assisting with plan comparisons to ensure Medicare beneficiaries are in the most affordable option based on their medication usage.  Please contact Stephanie Paul at 636-933-1347 or complete the attached worksheet and return by mail for a comparison.

MEAAA will be available at the following locations to provide Medicare Part D unbiased comparisons and enrollment assistance.  Beneficiaries should bring their Medicare cards and a list of their medications.
